Beach Essentials (w/ Costa Rica Recap)

We are in the peak of summer and us ladies at ITTF are living for it! Pool days, ice cream and sunshine are a few of our favorite things. I just got back from the dreamiest vacation to Costa Rica and I thought this would be the best opportunity to share some of my beach essentials!

I shared some of these items on our Instagram stories, but now I get to tell you how great they are! First up is the waterproof bag from One Savvy Girl on Amazon. This bag was the best thing we brought on the trip. I purchased the 10L option and it fit our towels, sunscreens and everything else we needed. It truly is waterproof and you can even see the air captured inside of it when you close it. I grabbed the black & white stripe option, but the blush pink is so pretty too!

We also purchased waterproof phone pouches from Walmart and I am obsessed with them! They float, they have a clear cutout on the back so that you can take photos while it's in the pouch and the clear covering on the front is touch screen compatible. Seriously. This thing is the best and it's only $6.00! Such a bargain. Disclaimer: I was way too chicken to fully submerge it, so I can only speak to light water exposure while we took photos knee deep in the ocean.

My favorite kind of coverup is one that is versatile and can be worn multiple ways. Think: a kimono that you can pair with shorts and a top or a simple dress cover-up that can be paired with sandals and a hat. I've included photos below of the two I brought on our trip (unfortunately the tropical print one is not online, but it's from Walmart) and I also shared other ones I'm loving right now!

I've talked about this a million times, but Elta MD has the BEST sunscreen. It doesn't feel heavy, is made for sport and sweat and is very affordable. We used SPF 50 the whole trip and I barely got any sun!

For my face, I use Revision Intellishade Matte which has SPF 45. You have to reapply frequently when in the sun if you're sweating or in the water. It's the only facial sunscreen product that doesn't clog my pores or feel heavy on my face. It is a little bit pricier, but so worth every penny.

Lastly, I recently purchased some sunnies (pic below) from Amazon and they are a fave. Seeing as how we lost two other pairs of sunglasses (and my beach hat) in the ocean, I was ecstatic that these survived.

Note: This is one of the most supportive bathing suit tops I've ever owned. For larger-chested girls, I highly recommend. Size down for most secure fit. I am wearing size small. (see more below)

These are all the swimmies I brought on the trip! I included my feedback on each of them individually.

I own this suit in black and a pink & white stripe print, which is sadly sold out, but the fit is fantastic. I have size medium, and for the black one, I purchased the long length. I like it better, but the regular length is great as well.

This suit is my favorite swimsuit I've purchased maybe ever. As a busty girl, finding supportive swim tops is nearly impossible. I love the pink color (not sure why they're so different in these pictures. The color is "deep fuschia") with the pop of orange and how the one shoulder style makes it seem like an actual swimsuit and not a bra top.

I purchased the bottoms in a gingham print and they are the comfiest thing I've ever put on. I went back to the store and bought a gingham top to match. I had to purchase an XL in the top for it to fit, but I found I was slipping out of it more than I'd like. Highly recommend the bottoms. The top, not so much.

I purchased two passport holders for our trip. I swear by the brown leather one I got for myself. It comes in over 40 colors, so picking one was the hardest decision ever, but I love how chic the brown leather is. It buttons shut so everything felt secure and has slots inside for your ID and credit cards. Tip: For a gift idea, get one monogrammed! It would be great for a new grad or as a wedding gift to a bride and/or groom going on a honeymoon!

I also purchased this passport holder from Amazon that has a more manly feel, but ended up returning it because it didn't have a zipper, clasp or button. I love the grey and leather contrast though! It is also RFID blocking.

I won't bore you with every single detail of everything we did, but I am going to share a few photos from our week in paradise (slideshow below)! We flew into San Jose and then drove to our AirBnb in Manuel Antonio. The view from our room was unreal. If you're interested, this is where we stayed! We went during their rainy season (aka what they call winter), so it was sunny and beautiful in the mornings and rained later in the afternoon while we rested and took in the view from our sun-room. While on our trip, we took a boat tour through the Mangroves and played with monkeys (a true dream come true!), went zip-lining, hiked the national park to the different beaches and went on a catamaran cruise. I researched and planned this trip on my own, so if you're looking for an amateur travel agent, I'm your girl! Haha. Just let me know in the comments if you have any questions or want more info! Costa Rica is beautiful and we would 1000% go again!

Are you going anywhere fun soon for vacation? Let me know below!
