Behind the Gram

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes when photographing content? We are going to let you in on our little secret: we take our photos ourselves.

YES. We are our own photographers, content creators, creative thinkers, editors; just to name a few of the many hats we wear.

Each month we sit down and plan out the next months content, photo shoot day, and admin meetings.

But, we aren't diving in that deep just yet. We are going to share with you how we prepare and execute our photo shoots for If the Top Fits. We hope that by the end of this, those that are considering becoming an influencer, you will feel encouraged, that you too can influence the world through social media for an affordable price!

EQUIPMENT //

To capture our content we use an iPhone X and a 52" tripod stand that comes with a rechargeable wireless remote. We both have a tripod that we use when we are on our own taking quick solo photos and for all of our Duo photo content.

EDITING TOOLS //

After capturing our content we edit our photos to match the theme of our feed. We use an Adobe app called, Lightroom. This is a downloadable app on your phone that you can edit your photos with, and it is compatible with presets. A preset is what you use to filter your photos to have a consistent theme to your feed. Using presets allows for your brand to be more visually pleasing.

With a few trial and errors, we decided on Sara Vickers's Presets (link above on photo). This preset suite came with 5 different filters that we use to brighten up our photos.

LOCATIONS //

We typically try to choose locations that provide a lot of variety when it comes to wall colors and wall textures. Our top locations to photograph in are: The Avalon, Marietta Square, Vinings Jubilee and Lenox Shops. We schedule one shoot a month and start early in the morning before the locations become too crowded.

OUTFIT PREP //

We prep 8-10 outfits for the shoot. We never coordinate what we are bringing, which is so funny, because we always end up being on the same wave length to where we can make our Duo photos look like we did try to coordinate (HA!). Love how that works out!
